Why do my photos show up sideways in the first place?
Cameras record the orientation in an EXIF metadata flag instead of physically rotating the pixels. Software that ignores that flag shows the raw sideways image. Rotating here physically rearranges the pixels, so the photo displays correctly in every program.
Does rotating lose image quality?
90°, 180° and 270° rotations and flips just rearrange pixels — nothing is resampled, so there's zero quality loss. Save as PNG for a fully lossless file; JPEG output re-encodes once at high quality.
Why does my selfie text read backwards, and which flip fixes it?
